SUMMARY
Directs Service Department activities for Sales Center and installs, services, and repairs beverage coolers, vending machines and other appliances by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes and schedules work schedules and itineraries for Service Techs.
  • Tracks productivity efficiency of service department.
  • Solicits new vending accounts.
  • Schedules installation and repair service calls.
  • Coordinates and assigns work schedules to minimize overtime in the Service Department.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of venders, coolers and spare parts for assigned territory.
  • Loads, unloads and transports vendors, coolers and other appliances to and from customer locations.
  • Perform required sanitation service on appliances.
  • Disassembles appliance and examines mechanical and electrical parts. Traces electrical circuits and locates shorts and grounds.
  • Utilize tools and diagnostic equipment such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter to diagnose appliances during operating cycle to detect malfunctions, excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, and loose parts.
  • Calibrates control devices such as timers and thermostats and adjusts contact points.
  • Cleans, washes and repaints parts. Replaces worn or defective parts such as panels, switches, pumps, compressors, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring.
  • Repairs and adjusts appliance motors. Reassembles appliance, adjusts and lubricates moving parts.
  • Ensures shop and vendor storage area is maintained in clean and orderly condition.
  • Cleans and maintains assigned vehicle in accordance with established schedules and maintains appropriate vehicle maintenance records.
  • Wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment.
  • Wears company provided uniform and presents professional appearance to customers and marketplace.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises employees in the Service Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organ-ization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Supervises 2 to 5 subordinate employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customer, employees and management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Possess the knowledge and understanding of paint removal, preparation and application required to paint metallic materials and other material used in vendors and supporting equipment. Proficient in use of personal computer spread-sheet and word processing software applications.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to identify and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to effectively organize multiple tasks.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Refrigeration Certification. Must meet company driver qualifications.
