*** An active Public Trust or the ability to obtain a Public Trust is required for consideration. *** The Public Health Advisor, Port Health Protection provides critical programmatic, analytical, and operational support for initiatives with the CDC Division of Global Migration Health (DGMH), Southern Border Health and Migration Branch (DGMH) initiatives. This role is a frontline public health position that helps prevent the introduction, transmission, and spread of communicable diseases and other health threats related to international travel and trade. This position will collaborate with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial and international partners to support disease surveillance, response activities, and public health preparedness efforts at air, land, and maritime ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border region. This position supports a government contract and is restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Documentation is required. This is a mission-critical role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights within a fast-paced public health environment. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Public Health Advisor, Port Health Protection: $80k- $85k Pay commensurate with experience. Public Health Advisor, Port Health Protection Responsibilities Include: * Knowledge of surveillance systems, infectious disease control, and emergency response principles. * Experience in project management, stakeholder coordination, and public health program implementation. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate information to diverse audiences. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced operational environment. * Experience working with external federal, state and local partners. * Experience working with multicultural and binational populations is highly desirable. * Ability to work afternoon and evening shifts, including outside regular business hours. * Required to work onsite 2-4 days per week at land Ports of Entry. * Required to participate in an on-call rotation schedule, including weekends and evenings, while maintaining a 40-hour work week. * Required to perform onsite duties at the CDC Port Health Station and designated Ports of Entry in San Diego, California Public Health Advisor, Port Health Protection Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: * Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy * Ability to be on call outside regular business hours, including weekends. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with public health issues affecting the U.S.-Mexico border region * Experience building partnerships and coordinating across federal, state, and local agencies * Familiarity with public health surveillance systems and emergency response Company Information: Cherokee Nation Integrated Health (CNIH) is a part of Cherokee Federal - the division of tribally owned federal contracting companies owned by Cherokee Nation Businesses.
