The City of Red Bank has an immediate opening for a Records Coordinator.
This position class performs a variety of clerical, technical, and administrative work in support of law enforcement activities. This position also serves as the N.C.I.C. Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) and the TIBRS Reporting Agency Coordinator (RAC).
JOB OVERVIEW The right candidate will achieve by: -Demonstrating the ability to follow directions. -Demonstrating the ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision. -Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Executive Office Manager and the subsequent chain of command for the agency. -Supervision Exercised: There are no supervisory or management responsibilities in this position.

To be eligible to apply, applicants MUST: -Be at least eighteen (18) years of age. -Be a high school graduate or equivalent. -Be eligible to work in the United States. -Valid Driver’s License. -Not have been convicted of, or plead guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances. -Not have been released or discharged under anything other than an honorable discharge from any armed forces of the United States.
After having met the above requirements, candidates must successfully complete the following: -Perform duties of data entry, records retrieval, distribution, or expungements. -Prepare summary reports of police records. -Maintain and audit various court orders and warrants. -Enter all warrants into the law enforcement computer and clear warrants as appropriate.
-Make inquiries or entries of all relevant police data into the National Criminal Justice (NCIC) database; i.e., missing persons, wanted persons, automobile registrations, identifications, criminal records, warrants outstanding. -Post, record, file, and manage records work in connection with arrest bookings, including making records checks through local and other jurisdictions. -Greet the public and assist in the dissemination of public information to the community, dealing with crime prevention and crime alert actions as needed. -Process open records requests. -Assist with special events and social media as needed. -Perform support services functions within the Police Department, dealing with public assistance in non-criminal matters. -Assist with training new and incumbent personnel as appropriate. -Order equipment and supplies as needed. -As required, must be flexible and willing to perform general duties outside the area of technical expertise. -Perform conscientiously, proficiently, and independently in the performance of assignments and duties related to records and support services functions. -All other duties assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES -Performs duties under general and infrequent supervision. Expected to perform conscientiously, proficiently, and independently any and all regular assignments and duties related to records and support services functions. -Must have the ability to comprehend the basic principles and techniques applied by officers in crime prevention, investigation, apprehension, rules of evidence, and other aspects of law enforcement relevant to this position. -Must be able to perform duties and maintain personal conduct, attitude, and appearance that conform to strict policies, procedures, and discipline with a “chain of command” management system. -Must be willing and able to carry out explicit orders and otherwise follow critical sequences of procedures. (It is critical to know how a given incident should be processed and distributed to proper agencies, courts, and jurisdictions.) -Reading ability: must be able to read reference books for law enforcement software carefully and exactly to get proper codes. -Must be able to maintain concentration, composure, and self-control under adverse conditions and to cope with calls and contacts firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of citizens.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -High school graduate or equivalent. -Must consent to a background investigation to include employment & personal reference check, driving history, criminal history, and police records prior to employment; must meet Police Department standards in those areas.
