At Securian Financial, the internal title for this position is Reporting & Analytics Sr Analyst.

Overview:

This position is part of theBusiness Intelligenceteam within Individual Solutions. A professional in this position will provide reporting and analytics subject matter expertise for life products, annuity products, and business solutions to Individual Solutions stakeholders. This position is ideal for a curious, analytical professional who enjoys transforming complex data into clear business insights, improving data & reporting processes, and partnering with stakeholders to solve business challenges.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Reporting & Analytics Delivery

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports, surveys, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical solutions that support the business.

  • Translate business questions into data-driven insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, scalable, and aligned with reporting and analytics standards.

  • Conduct trend analysis, root cause analysis, and exploratory data analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging patterns.

Data Management & Governance

  • Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and integration activities across multiple systems and data sources.

  • Research and resolve data quality issues and help improve data integrity and reporting consistency.

  • Develop and maintain standardized data catalogs including business definitions, calculations, KPIs, and reporting documentation.

  • Contribute to the evolution of reporting standards and best practices.

Tools, Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize reporting and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, Business Objects, RStudio, or similar technologies to support business intelligence initiatives.

  • Partner with enterprise teams to improve data marts, reporting capabilities, metadata, and data cataloging efforts.

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency through enhanced analytics capabilities and tooling.

  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of reporting enhancements and process improvements.

Business Partnership & Consultation

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand reporting and analytics needs, define requirements, and prioritize requests.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders by providing analytical support and recommendations.

  • Summarize findings and present insights in a clear, concise manner tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong data manipulation and analytical skills, including data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and validation.

  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, Business Objects, RStudio, or similar technologies.

  • Ability to work with complex data from multiple sources.

  • Strong organization and attention to detail to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain processes and results tostakeholders.

  • Effective prioritization skills, including the ability to balance accuracy, resources, and timelines within the bigger picture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Individual Solution's data sources, their content & structure.

  • Familiarity with life insurance and annuity products, distribution channels, and business operations.

  • Experience developing KPI definitions, data dictionaries, or metadata documentation.

  • Exposure to data governance, data quality management, or reporting standards.

  • Experience collaborating across business and technology teams in agile or cross-functional environments.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$59,400.00 - $109,200.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
