In this role, you will assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties, usually under close supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • May perform a variety of functions, such as digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel

  • Lifts, carries, and holds building materials, tools, and supplies

  • Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas

  • Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using hand tools

  • Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe

  • Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in a trench, assembling sections of dredge pipeline, removing wallpaper, and laying railroad track

  • Worker may spend time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
