NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations to join our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

Responsibilities

    Provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy operations, including dispensing services, inventory management, controlled substance programs, and operational support functions.
  • Direct and support operational leaders responsible for dispensing workflow, inventory and logistics, and controlled substance management to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy operations.
  • Establish operational goals, monitor key performance indicators, and implement strategies to improve productivity, service levels, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, DEA, board of pharmacy, accreditation, and contractual requirements.
  • Support operational readiness efforts for audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development, implementation, and optimization of pharmacy programs, technologies, and operational workflows.
  • Oversee resource planning, workforce development, and operational decision-making.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to management staff and promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational growth initiatives, new client implementations, and operational expansion efforts.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Active pharmacist license and controlled substance registration in good standing with all applicable regulatory agencies, including the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain pharmacist licensure and controlled substance registrations in additional states as required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive pharmacy operations leadership experience.
  • Experience managing dispensing operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing supervisors, managers, and large operational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of DEA regulations, state board of pharmacy requirements, and applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, operational workflows, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing and monitoring operational metrics, key performance indicators, and performance improvement programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with workforce planning, operational resource management, and team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in long-term care, institutional, correctional, or closed-door pharmacy operations.
  • Experience managing large-scale dispensing operations.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation, dispensing technology, and pharmacy management systems.
  • Experience leading multi-state, multi-site, and geographically dispersed pharmacy operations.
  • Licensure as a pharmacist in multiple states.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation activities.
  • Advanced training or certification in leadership, operations management, quality improvement, or process improvement methodologies.
