SUMMARY


The Maintenance Mechanic Class A is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe and efficient production operations. This role supports equipment reliability through mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance while minimizing operational downtime.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facility systems to minimize downtime.
  2. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, conveyor, and mechanical systems using appropriate diagnostic procedures.
  3. Inspect, disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble malfunctioning production and processing equipment as required.
  4. Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work orders through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  5. Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
  6. Safely operate cranes, hoists, lift trucks, power tools, and maintenance equipment required to perform assigned duties.
  7. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and operational efficiency.
  8. Assist with inventory management by maintaining maintenance parts, tools, and replacement component availability.
  9. Collaborate with production and maintenance leadership to prioritize repairs and support production goals.
  10. Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing training and industry best practices.
  11. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, environmental standards, and quality requirements.
  12. Special projects and assignments as business dictates


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or apprenticeship training preferred
  • 4-6 years of industrial maintenance or heavy equipment maintenance experience required
  • Experience in corrugated converting or manufacturing maintenance preferred
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, motors, and industrial machinery required
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, PLC equipment, and CMMS systems preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness


PHYSICAL DEMANDS



  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the facility
  • Frequently required to use hands to handle tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment
  • Must regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move equipment, tools, and parts associated with maintenance activities
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, production equipment, vibrations, and varying temperatures
  • The noise level requires the use of hearing protection in designated production areas
  • Frequently exposed to dust, humidity, fumes, and industrial manufacturing conditions
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing operational priorities


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS



  • Will be required to maintain various internal powered lift licenses
