In this role, you will be key to making sure each project is a success. You'll work both independently and in teams, solve problems, and use sound judgement to make sure projects finish on time and within budget. Responsibilities Include:

As a Transportation Construction Project Leader, you'll play a key role in leading and delivering successful transportation construction projects supporting our Wisconsin offices. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work alongside experienced engineers on challenging transportation construction projects.
  • Conduct on-site construction observation, materials testing, and project documentation to verify quality, compliance, and conformance to plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Serve as the on-site representative, coordinating with contractors and project teams to resolve field issues, maintain project momentum, and act as a liaison with the engineer of record.
  • Assist with CAD-based design work and support the design and plan production of transportation-related projects.
  • Mentor and lead teams by planning and organizing staff, providing guidance, workload planning, and supporting professional development.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders such as county and municipal governments and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), and building relationships to deliver impactful, community-focused projects and strengthen company presence.
  • Assist with preparation and negotiation of contract documents, and lead post-construction activities including finalizing quantities, conducting inspections, and preparing/negotiating change orders and pay estimates.
  • Actively engage in local, statewide, and/or national professional organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will hold at least two applicable certifications, and one of the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field
  • -OR- An Associate's Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience
  • -OR- If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin.
  • WisDOT and Local project and client management experience as well as proven success managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Past experience and selected as a Construction Project Leader for WisDOT projects.
  • Highway Technician Certification Program (HTCP) certification, or ability to obtain.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
