Position Highlights

As a Materials Handler I, you will be responsible for supporting the shipping, receiving, inspecting, storage, issuance and delivery of a variety of materials, equipment and supplies across campus. The main building is out of our Facilities Warehouse, where the responsibilities include the distribution of supplies and materials. This role requires transporting and delivering supplies to various buildings across campus as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Handles and maintains flow of materials and products in manufacturing, stockroom, or warehouse environments.
  • Performs routine tasks to handle, move, and store materials and products in a warehouse setting.
  • Follows detailed instructions to check incoming shipments for damage or shortages and helps complete required paperwork for records.
  • Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
  • Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Assists with ordering and restocking standard inventory items by following set procedures.
  • May recommend reorder of items when instructed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of campus buildings and locations.
  • Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
  • Knowledge of record keeping practices.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.
  • Skills in operating forklift or other materials handling equipment.
  • Ability to operate large vehicles in tight and congested areas.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirement:

  • Ability to lift packages and objects that weight up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving cargo vans/vehicles.
  • Minimum of one year of prior warehouse experience.
  • Experience working on a college/university campus.
