Position: Quality Technician (9544EL)

Grade: 4

This position is subject to meeting U.S. Export Compliance and/or U.S. Government Contracting Citizenship eligibility requirements

Position Summary:

With limited guidance/direction from Quality Team Leadership, this role supports factory operations by monitoring inbound supplier products for delays caused by nonconformances, documentation gaps, shipping issues, or other disruptions, and by taking appropriate action to resolve issues affecting part availability. Resolution activities may include escalation to the appropriate business function when needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Managing and solving day-to-day problems that occur with supplier and/or internal products to make products available to Manufacturing Operations. This may include evaluating problems related to received products or paperwork.

  • Demonstrating business acumen in communicating with suppliers directly to solve issues to make supplier product available to Manufacturing Operations.

  • Support and validate containment of nonconforming parts upon receipt.

  • Assist in validating corrective actions upon part receipt.

  • Serves as a liaison between external and internal business functions as necessary to ensure premier customer service to drive continuous improvement activities.

  • Reviewing Supplier First Article Inspections, PPAPs and other quality documentation.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or higher
  • Experience working in or with Quality, Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines

Experience:

  • 4-5 years of related inspection or supplier experience (Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, aerospace manufacturing preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Experience in inspection methods and the use of inspection tools to evaluate parts


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective use of Microsoft software tools for communication
  • Must possess the ability to identify problems, develop and implement solutions
  • Demonstrate the values of customer satisfaction, integrity, continuous improvement and adherence to standards, aiming to ensure consistently high-quality products and services.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding complex blueprints, route sheets, test specifications, customer specifications and internal drawings and procedures.
  • Possess working knowledge of shop mathematics including trigonometry.

  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Visual inspection skills required including the ability to distinguish between colors and pass a visual acuity test (which includes far vision, near vision and color perception).

  • Preferred experience with measurement equipment and background in dimensioning and tolerancing per ANSI Y 14.5
  • Knowledge of applicable military standards or specifications as required.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in department problem solving, kaizen events and high-performance teams. Must exhibit team cooperative spirit through assistance to others and knowledge sharing.

  • Actively maintain 5S in the department.

  • Will serve as a resource for other team members and assist in training and development efforts.

  • Responsible for continuous learning or education required to maintain proficiency in job skills and job knowledge.

  • May be required to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Will be required to support Team Improvement Board metrics by posting on and reporting metrics when required.

  • Must be able to pass current Solder Inspection Certification per Division/Site standards (or is already a certified solder inspector).

  • Must enter into and meet the requirements of the site's FAA/DOT Random Drug and Alcohol Program for covered employees who inspect safety sensitive products.

  • Will travel to the supplier to assist in the research, identify and repair product failures.

  • Will be required to assist with audits and source inspections, as necessary.

  • Will be required to enter and maintain records in our quality management systems.

  • Other duties as required to assist the team leader in meeting all product quality-related standards and expectations.

  • Pay Range: $31/hr to $46.6/hr
