Description

Street Smart is a growing leader in traffic control equipment rental and smart work zone technology. We help contractors, municipalities, and transportation agencies solve complex roadway safety and traffic control challenges with practical, technology-driven solutions.

We are looking for people who are curious, self-motivated, comfortable learning new tools, and excited to help shape how technology is used in the traffic safety industry.

About the Role

The Regional Estimating Manager will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and developing project opportunities that use Street Smart's technology to solve complex traffic control problems. This role partners closely with Regional Sales Managers, Regional Sales Directors, estimators, customers, and internal teams to turn project needs into creative, competitive, and financially sound proposals.

This is not a traditional estimating role where you simply wait for bids to come in. The right person will be proactive, forward-thinking, and comfortable looking for opportunities where our technology can create a better solution than conventional traffic control methods. The role includes opportunity qualification, project take-offs, financial analysis, go-to-market strategy, proposal support, post-bid analysis, and ongoing relationship development.

This role supports the Southeast United States and candidates should ideally live in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi or Tennessee.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Identify and develop portable signalized project opportunities within an assigned region.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers and Regional Sales Directors to evaluate market trends, customer needs, bid opportunities, pricing strategy, and margin approvals.
  • Analyze project requirements and develop accurate, competitive estimates and proposals.
  • Use Salesforce and other technology tools to manage opportunities, track pipeline activity, analyze win/loss rates, and report on key performance indicators.
  • Develop annual strategic plans focused on meeting or exceeding assigned financial targets.
  • Review specifications, bid documents, project plans, and customer requirements to determine the best approach.
  • Collaborate with sales, estimating, operations, and leadership teams to brainstorm creative solutions for complex traffic control applications.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting materials using KPI data and project analytics.
  • Support customer relationships through presentations, project discussions, proposal reviews, and follow-up.
  • Attend industry trade shows, association meetings, or customer events as needed.
  • Help educate internal and external stakeholders on Street Smart's technology, capabilities, and non-traditional product applications.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

You may be a strong fit for this role if you are:

  • A self-starter who does not need constant direction to move work forward.
  • Comfortable working with technology, data, CRM systems, online bid platforms, and project management tools.
  • Curious and forward-thinking, with the ability to see opportunities others may miss.
  • Coachable and willing to learn company-specific terminology, technology, products, and processes.
  • Analytical, but also practical - able to turn details into action.
  • Comfortable working with sales teams, customers, estimators, and operational leaders.
  • Confident presenting ideas, asking good questions, and building relationships.
  • Motivated by growth, accountability, and measurable results.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in construction project estimating, traffic control, traffic engineering, B2B sales, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database or CRM tools.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to qualify for a DOT medical card to drive a commercial motor vehicle, if required.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working with government agencies.
  • Experience in transportation, road construction, traffic safety, intelligent transportation systems, or the transportation safety industry.
  • Experience using Salesforce, bid-letting websites, online procurement portals, traffic control planning tools, or similar platforms.

Travel and Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with occasional overnight or out-of-state travel for customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, or project-related needs. The role regularly requires computer work, communication with internal and external partners, and occasional movement of equipment or supplies up to 30 pounds.
