  • Schedule: Monday through Friday: 7:00 am through 3:30 pm; nights and weekends as needed

  • Location: Newport Naval Station Newport Rhode Island


CW is seeking a hands-on Landscaping Lead who loves the outdoors and enjoys helping others succeed. You'll work side-by-side with the crew, guiding and training them while doing high-quality landscape work yourself.



  • Work alongside team members to complete landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, and general grounds maintenance.

  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to help team members learn proper techniques and complete work correctly.

  • Help organize daily tasks and keep work on track throughout the day.

  • Show team members how to safely use tools and equipment and follow safety procedures.

  • Check the quality of work and offer support to ensure standards are met.

  • Answer questions and assist team members with day-to-day work activities.

  • Help keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and in good condition.

  • Communicate with team members and leadership about progress and any issues that come up.

  • Support new employees by helping them learn the job through on-the-job training.


What You'll Need to Be Successful:



  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related outdoor work environment.

  • Experience using landscaping tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.

  • Basic understanding of basic landscaping practices and equipment use.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Valid RealID

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.

Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Standing and Movement: Frequently stand, walk, and move across large outdoor areas for extended periods of time during the workday.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more; occasional team lifting may be required for heavier items.

  • Repetitive Motion: Perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, stooping, kneeling, digging, trimming, and raking throughout the shift.

  • Manual Dexterity: Use hands and arms to operate landscaping tools and equipment, including trimmers, blowers, mowers, and other hand tools, requiring strength and coordination.

  • Climbing and Balancing: Occasionally climb ladders, steps, or uneven terrain and maintain balance while performing work on slopes or landscaped areas.

  • Endurance: Ability to sustain physical labor and consistent activity throughout the workday, often under physically demanding conditions.

  • Outdoor Work Environment: Work is performed primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and direct sunlight.

  • Temperature Exposure: Regular exposure to extreme temperatures depending on seasonal conditions.

  • Noise Levels: Frequent exposure to moderate to high noise levels from power tools and landscaping equipment; hearing protection may be required.

  • Airborne Particles: Exposure to dust, dirt, grass clippings, pollen, and other outdoor elements.

  • Equipment Use: Operation of motorized landscaping equipment and tools, requiring adherence to safety protocols at all times.

  • Terrain: Work on uneven, sloped, or rough ground surfaces, including grass, soil, gravel, and paved areas.

  • PPE Requirements: Use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility clothing as required.

  • Safety Risks: Potential exposure to hazards such as sharp tools, moving equipment, insects, and environmental conditions; strict adherence to safety procedures is required.
