Job summary

The Facility Operation Technician I supports the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and compliance of a biotechnology facility. This entry-level role ensures that laboratory, manufacturing, and office environments remain safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards. The Facility Operation Technician I works closely with the Senior Facility Manager to support critical infrastructure and equipment.

Essential job functions and duties

  • Assist with routine facility maintenance, including HVAC, utilities, and building systems.
  • Perform daily monitoring of critical systems (e.g., temperature, humidity, clean rooms, compressed gases)
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules and documentation for facility equipment
  • Respond to work orders and assist with basic troubleshooting and repairs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of facility spaces, including cGMP-controlled areas
  • Assist in calibration and validation activities for facility-related instruments
  • Support vendors and contractors during onsite service or maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (cGMP, OSHA, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation per company procedures
  • Assist in inventory management for facility supplies and spare parts
  • Participate in emergency response procedures (e.g., power outages, equipment alarms)

Minimum requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or laboratory support (internships acceptable)
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly.
  • Ability to solve problems, and function with a moderate degree of independence
  • Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills are essential.
  • Exposure to biotech, pharmaceutical, or lab environments is a plus
