THE POSITION

Join the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a Procurement Specialist 1 and help support essential operations across the Commonwealth! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the purchasing needs of PennDOT by managing routine procurement activities and guiding program staff through established processes. As a Procurement Specialist 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Policy Application: Interpret policies, procedures, and regulations to support purchasing decisions
  • Guidance Provided: Offer direction to program areas and assist in developing sourcing strategies and documentation
  • Contract Oversight: Manage procurement processes including bids, proposals, quotes, and contract updates
  • Vendor Coordination: Address vendor issues, support corrective actions, and assist with performance concerns
  • Small Business Support: Identify opportunities for small businesses and help them navigate registration and participation steps
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate procurement documents, as well as monitor purchase orders and contracts for compliance

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience performing technical purchasing or contract management work; and a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, project, or operations management, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
