TOCNET Field Service Representative (FSR)
Location:Huntsville, AL Position Type:Full-Time / Field Engineering (Joint/Multi-Service Support) Security Clearance:Active Secret (Required)
Position Summary
The Field Service Representative (FSR) is a versatile technical specialist responsible for the on-site integration, sustainment, and optimization of the TOCNET Unified Voice Management System (UVMS). While primarily supporting Army modernization initiatives, this role is a "general purpose" technical resource capable of supporting all branches of the military as required by Joint operations. This position bridges the gap between complex digital networking and tactical operations, ensuring resilient voice-to-data connectivity across Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) cells, high-mobility maneuver platforms, and maritime/aviation interfaces. The successful candidate will facilitate the "digital tissue" that connects sensors to shooters in Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) environments, focusing on mission success across the total force.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Integration & Technical Support
Joint NGC2 Implementation:Lead the physical and logical integration of TOCNET UVMS hardware into modernized command architectures, including Army NGC2 nodes, Marine Corps Ground-Based Air Defense (GBAD) cells, and Navy/Aviation interfaces.
Multi-Service Gateway Management:Configure and maintain UVMS as a central RoIP (Radio over IP) gateway, bridging disparate tactical networks (TSM-X, WRW, SINCGARS, and Link-16) to ensure a Unified Common Operational Picture (COP) across service branches.
Cross-Platform Optimization:Support technical installs and troubleshooting on a variety of mobile platforms, including AMPV, M-SHORAD, Stryker, and amphibious/robotic combat vehicles.
Interoperability Engineering:Ensure seamless voice-to-data translation between Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps fires and maneuver assets to support sensor-to-shooter closed-loop operations.
Field Operations & Testing
Joint Exercise Support:Provide on-site technical assistance during high-visibility "Purple" exercises (e.g., Project Convergence) and Joint live-fire events.
On-the-Move (OTM) Connectivity:Diagnose and resolve communication bottlenecks for multi-service vehicle and command crews operating at combat speeds in contested electronic environments.
Joint Validation & Testing:Support Follow-on User Testing (FUT) and Government Acceptance Testing (GAT) to ensure system stability and provide technical feedback for Joint engineering cycles.
Training & Mentorship
Joint User Training:Deliver "Over-the-Shoulder" (OTS) training and formal technical instruction to Army (14, 25, 19-series), Marine Corps, and other Joint service crews.
Technical Reach-back:Act as a Tier 2/3 subject matter expert for units in the field, utilizing remote diagnostics and advanced packet-analysis tools to resolve complex system failures across the force.
Qualifications
Required Experience
Professional Experience:5+ years of experience in tactical communications, field service engineering, or systems integration within a military context.
Technical Proficiency:Strong foundational knowledge of Tactical IP Networking, Radio over IP (RoIP) protocols, and tactical radio waveforms (LOS and BLOS).
Hardware Familiarity:Previous experience with or exposure to TOCNET UVMS or similar multi-domain voice/data bridging systems.
Compliance:Active Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Experience (Former/Transitioning Military)
Military Background:Prior service in a technical or combat arms MOS (e.g., Army 14G/14E, 25-series, 19-series; USMC 06xx/72xx) is highly desirable.
Joint Systems Familiarity:Direct experience operating within an IBCS EOC, NGC2 environment, or Joint command post.
Open Architectures:Understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), CMOSS/VICTORY, or Open Mission Systems (OMS) standards.
Core Competencies
Cross-Branch Adaptability:Ability to operate independently in austere environments alongside personnel from all military branches.
Analytical Problem Solving:Rapidly identify and mitigate networking and hardware failures under time-sensitive tactical conditions.
Effective Communication:Ability to translate complex engineering concepts into actionable instructions for Joint tactical operators.
