The role of Senior Accountant plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance for HDR's global lease portfolio, while driving process improvements and system efficiencies across the lease accounting function. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Oversee and execute lease accounting under ASC 842, including lease classification (finance and operating), modifications, remeasurements, impairments, and terminations * Act as primary owner of lease accounting processes within a high-volume, fast paced environment, ensuring timely and accurate processing of frequent lease updates and changes * As subject matter expert, lead and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to drive resolution of lease-related matters and ensure alignment on data and accounting treatment * Drive close processes including the preparation and review of journal entries, rent payments, cost allocations, and account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with HDR policy, and strict adherence to established deadlines * Oversee and validate lease data maintained by JLL, our 3rd party lease administrator, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment to source documents * Partner cross-functionally with Corporate Real Estate, Information Technology, Procurement and Operations to ensure completeness and accuracy of lease data * Identify, implement, and maintain automation opportunities impacting your areas of responsibility using Alteryx, UiPath, MS Copilot, and/or similar tools * Support monthly, quarterly, and annual flux analysis, forecasting, and budgeting * Support internal and external audits, including preparation of documentation and technical support for lease-related balances and accounting methodologies * Maintain compliance with internal controls and support control documentation, including identification and escalation of control gaps or risks * Support ad hoc analysis, reporting, and special projects as assigned Characteristics of a successful Candidate: * Bachelor's degree in accounting required * Minimum of 3-5 years of corporate accounting, public accounting, internal audit or related experience * Strong understanding of ASC 842 Lease Accounting preferred * Previous experience with lease accounting systems (LeaseAccelerator preferred) * Ability to operate independently and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment * Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities required * Demonstrated ability to leverage systems (Oracle EBS, LeaseAccelerator, Excel, automation tools) to improve accuracy and efficiency * Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a broad range of financial and non-financial personnel * Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to take ownership of complex accounting issues * Experience with international accounting and multi-currency environments (preferred) * CPA or ability to obtain a CPA or similar designation is preferred * Ability to work in Omaha, NE is required * An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
