Job Description


Provides guidance and direction to multiple Observers engaged in gathering azimuth, elevation and time of flight data using surveying instruments, theodolites, Software and interfacing equipment to identify precise airburst and/or impact point locations. Identifies and assigns crew member locations to be used for data collection. Establishes temporary observation points as required. Checks final field note inputs for clarity, accuracy and data submission using the Forward Observer Field-to-Database (F2DB) program that includes the following: station locations, corresponding coordinates, orientations, test setups, attribute inputs, field conditions and geometry. Flags munitions. Communicates frequently with Test Officers and other customers regarding test requirements and suggests position and resource allocation. Performs operator maintenance on equipment. Maintains records and logbooks. Mentors and trains personnel associated with ROM. Performs other duties as needed to ensure completion of test mission. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications


Pay Rate:$39.26

Education/Licenses/Certifications/Experience Requirements:

*Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

*Must possess certificate of qualification for Observer issued by YPG Range Support Contractor.

*Must have 140 hours of on the job crew chief training and must possess certificate of qualification for crew chief issued by range support contractor (in house applicants).

*Must have extensive knowledge of Field to Database (F2DB) Software.

*Must have 5 years' experience in the section as an Observer III, OR three (3) years' in the section as an Observer III and be a licensed Surveyor.

Job Skills Requirements:

*Must have basic understanding of a grid system.

*Must be able to configure live link system with instrumentation.

*Must be able to set up, operate and troubleshoot theodolites.

*Must be able to upload video to Network Attached Storage (NAS).

*Must have extensive knowledge/familiarity of YPG ranges.

Physical Requirements:

*Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.

*Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.

*Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

*Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. unassisted.

*Must be able to climb ladders and stairs safely.

*Must be capable of kneeling, squatting, bending and standing while performing duties.

*Must be able to distinguish colors.

*Must be able to work from an elevated position (up to 25 feet above ground level).

*Must be able to carry equipment up flights of stairs to work location.

*Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for Range Optical Measure.

*Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

*Knowledge of land surveying.

Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements:

*Must be a U.S. Citizen.

*Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.

*Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
