Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a research laboratory located on the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. CCMB is a part of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

The laboratory is funded through numerous federal and organization sponsored research grants. Many of these grants are from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, under which basic research is conducted into developmental, biochemical and molecular biological aspects of human development with a special emphasis on craniofacial structures in both health and disease.

Working together, we are advancing oral, dental, and craniofacial research toward solving problems in health and promoting the well-being of society.

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to assist a principal investigator in managing all phases of a large project grant and any subcontracts. This role involves providing leadership and direction for day-to-day project operations and administrative activities, participating in the planning, design, and development of project protocols, data acquisition, management, and analysis, as well as reporting of study results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist a principal investigator with formulating research objectives, organizing, and scheduling activities to meet objectives.

  • Plans and develops program objectives and content. Researches and identifies trends and needs and establishes program directions accordingly. Assesses quality of program operations. Modifies existing program services or creates new program offerings to maintain or enhance program standing. Develops curricula and course materials and coordinates faculty recruitment and involvement. Links program with other relevant departments on or off campus as necessary.

  • Manages the delivery of services to targeted program participants or beneficiaries. Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate. Develops and maintains automated or manual systems and procedures to facilitate program operations.

  • Evaluate and recommend statistical methods for data analysis, monitor, and interpret results of analysis.

  • Develops and manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary and resource allocations. Provides financial status reports as requested.

  • Serves as a key resource for program information. Resolves problems or questions referred by program staff, senior university administrators, or professionals outside the university.

  • Contributes to the design of research protocols. Evaluates, recommends and implements procedures for data acquisition, management and quality control. Evaluates and recommends statistical methods for data analysis and monitors and interprets results of analysis. Prepares technical reports, presentations, and papers on study plans, progress and results of research activities.

  • Coordinates and/or links project-specific operations with administrative and research functions on and off campus. This includes negotiation and oversight of subcontracted services and vendor selection, authorization of expenditures, monitoring of account reconciliation, preparation of reports to funding agencies, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and funding guidelines.

The annual range for this position is $114,000 - $124,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
