What You'll Do
The Regional Nursing Director provides clinical and administrative leadership to nurse managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with nursing practice policies and procedures for nursing services at residential sites. The Regional Nursing Director works under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and collaborates with Medical staff, Executive Directors and Compliance staff to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality care. The Regional Nursing Director supports nursing staff to achieve site specific targets related to patient census, revenue generation, patient satisfaction and employee engagement. This role cultivates a nationally connected nursing leadership culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence across all programs. Key Performance Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the CNO, Nurse Managers, Medical staff and Executive Directors to establish and implement patient care practices that are evidenced based and patient centered.
- Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and operating guidelines to ensure compliance with Newport Healthcare, Joint Commission, state licensure, CMS, and for the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
- Assist in recruiting nurse leaders. Provide ongoing mentoring and leadership development opportunities for nurse leaders.
- Facilitate national nursing leadership forums, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best-practice exchange across the organization.
- Work collaboratively with the Nursing Managers and Supervisors to oversee the nursing onboarding program and ensure that all educational needs and regulatory requirements are met.
- Review nursing related Incident Reports daily and follow up with nursing leadership to ensure investigations are conducted and action plans completed using a Just Culture approach to prevent recurrence. Participate in RCAs in nursing related incidents.
- Identify trends in patient safety events. Work collaboratively with the treatment team to develop mitigating practices to prevent recurrence.
- Provide support with opening new facilities. Responsible for ensuring standards are met including safe medication administration, identification and mitigation of ligature risks, and emergency response workflows.
- Use evidenced-based practice and performance improvement methodologies to guide clinical decision-making.
- Create strategies and tactics for continual improvement based on data. Oversee chart audit program to ensure documentation compliance for the nursing department.
- Support Nurse Managers in implementing systems to monitor quality indicators, medication management practices, and patient safety outcomes.
- Implement and educate on utilization of a shared governance model to enhance retention and reduce nursing turnover.
- Establish and standardize nursing workflows, policies, and procedures across all programs while preserving site-specific flexibility.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce redundancy, and optimize nursing operations while maintaining high standards of care.
- Partner with the Infection Control Nurse and work collaboratively with the Nurse Managers to ensure sites are implementing sound infection control practices. Establish protocols and partner with all departments to provide a safe environment for all clients and colleagues by supporting effective reporting, education, and supervision.
- Partner with operational leaders to optimize nursing resources, and to oversee efficient and effective use of medical supplies, equipment and materials.

What Makes You a Great Fit
Education, Experience, License Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school required.
- Masters preferred.
- Licensed and registered to practice nursing. Must obtain licensure in all states served in the region of responsibility.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations, and after training, be able to manage disruptive and explosive patients.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities that contribute to an environment that values collaboration, mutual respect, and professionalism.
Compensation for this role ranges from $126,000 - 173,000 annually depending on education and experience. We are committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation. An individual's pay rate within the posted range is determined by several factors, including skills, experience, education, and market conditions.
