As a senior member of the HRT Development team, the Sr. Business Analyst - Benefits gathers, analyzes, and communicates business requirements for the Benefits product area while contributing to solution design and delivery. This role supports the full product development lifecycle and partners closely with customers, product management, architects, developers, business analysts, quality assurance, and technical writers.
The Sr. Business Analyst brings deep, hands-on Benefits product knowledge and an understanding of user needs. The position applies responsible agentic AI workflows and assistant tooling to accelerate requirements analysis, design documentation, research, and validation, with human review of AI-assisted output. While the role does not typically include direct management responsibilities, it may support related decisions and activities as needed.

A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
  • Gather, analyze, and verify Benefits requirements, translating business and user needs into clear functional product designs for development and QA.
  • Support requirements prioritization, release scope control, and management discussions for the Benefits product area.
  • Write clear product designs and specifications using standard templates, ensuring solutions align with business requirements and system design specifications.
  • Facilitate design reviews, identify design-process issues or technical risks, and recommend solutions that support software quality and reusable patterns.
  • Serve as the Benefits subject-matter expert for development, QA, support teams, customers, and other internal stakeholders, including presenting product designs and features.
  • Apply responsible AI-assisted workflows to support requirements analysis, design documentation, research, test scenario generation, and validation, with human review of AI-generated output.
  • Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle by documenting product changes, incorporating customer feedback, researching industry and regulatory trends, supporting testing, reviewing release documentation, and mentoring or training others as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Business analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated domain knowledge of employee Benefits (benefits administration, eligibility, enrollment, plan configuration).
  • Formal training in business analysis techniques; use-case modeling and design documentation skills.
  • Experience using, supporting, or testing commercial/business applications.
  • Experience working in a software house environment, supporting, designing, or testing packaged software.
  • Openness to and working comfort with agentic AI processes and AI assistant tooling in a product development context.
  • Proficient with PCs/servers and various software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Canadian benefits and/or Canadian payroll knowledge a bonus.
  • Customer and development focus.
  • Systematic and logical approach to problem-solving, analysis, and testing.
  • An appreciation of relevant technologies, to include application development environments and languages, databases, networking, and client/server systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally - recommending innovative enhancements and effective solutions to customer requirements/faults.
  • A working knowledge of modern software engineering practices and methodologies.
  • Unified Modeling Language (UML).
