KSCAC places recent college graduates inside partner high schools to guide students through every step of post-secondary and workforce planning: two- or four-year college, technical certificates, apprenticeships, military, and direct-to-work pathways. As a KSCAC Advisor you become the school's go-to resource for applications, financial aid, career exploration, and employer connections.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site. Southeast Kansas Cluster. Cluster schools: Caney Valley High School (USD 436), Sedan High School (USD 286), and Hamilton High School (USD 390). Hub flexibility: Coffeyville, Independence, or any location with reasonable commuting access to all three schools. Note: Hamilton HS is 80 minutes one-way from Coffeyville. Hub residency required by start date.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the foundational knowledge, communication skills and developmental insight essential for guiding students toward post-secondary success and fostering a college-going culture. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program. Valid driver's license.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Lived/work experience in rural Kansas communities or rural school districts. Regular highway driving between hub and three cluster schools (valid KS license required); light lifting (up to 25 lbs - office materials, event setup); Kansas winter driving conditions and summer-heat community events; near-continuous screen use for virtual advising and d3 case management. Equipment: laptop, M365/d3 platform.
  • K-12 paraprofessional, substitute teaching, coaching, or after-school programming experience.
  • Experience delivering virtual instruction, coaching, or advising.
  • Lived experience as a first-generation college student, community-college transfer, certificate-pathway completer, or veteran-to-postsecondary navigator.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills; organized and self-directed across multiple sites with light remote supervision.
  • Honorable U.S. military service (any branch, any era); OR
  • Kansas paraprofessional/teacher-aide certification plus two (2)+ years of school-based service; O
  • Five (5)+ years of full-time professional, skilled-trades, or community-organization experience with documented mentorship, youth engagement, or workforce-development work.
