The University of Minnesota Morris (UMN Morris) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Regional Admission Counselor based in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. As a key member of the Admissions team, this position represents UMN Morris-a top-ranked public liberal arts college-to prospective students, families, high school counselors, and community partners in the Twin Cities region.

The successful candidate will articulate the value of a liberal arts and sciences education, emphasizing UMN Morris's hands-on learning, faculty-student collaboration, vibrant campus community, affordability, and commitment to student success. This role involves developing and executing a targeted recruitment strategy for the Twin Cities metro territory to meet enrollment goals, while providing exceptional service to prospective students from diverse backgrounds.

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Work Environment:

This is a regional, field-based position located in the Twin Cities, with regular travel throughout the metropolitan area and periodic overnight travel for recruitment events, and to the Morris campus (Morris campus travel - about once per month for a couple of days, at least two full weeks per semester). Significant travel, evening, and weekend hours during peak recruitment periods (typically fall and spring).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive recruitment plan tailored to the Twin Cities metro territory to achieve short- and long-term enrollment goals.
  • Serve as the primary UMN Morris representative in the Twin Cities, building and maintaining strong relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, college access programs, families, and educational partners.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual recruitment activities, including high school visits, college fairs, information sessions, open houses, admitted student events, orientation programs, and one-on-one counseling meetings.
  • Deliver engaging presentations that highlight UMN Morris's academic programs, student experience, scholarships, financial aid, and campus opportunities.
  • Review applications and make admission decisions based on academic qualifications and program fit.
  • Manage ongoing communication with prospects and applicants through phone, email, text, virtual meetings, and CRM campaigns (e.g., Slate).
  • Monitor recruitment trends, student behavior, and market conditions in the assigned territory and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Admissions team members and campus partners to support enrollment initiatives and foster an inclusive environment.
  • Meet individual and team recruitment, application, and enrollment targets.
  • Utilize data and CRM systems to track activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in professional development and stay informed on higher education trends, admissions best practices, and UMN Morris programs and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the value of a liberal arts education and to building a diverse, inclusive campus community.
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (including evenings/weekends and occasional overnight stays).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in college admissions, recruitment, counseling, or related higher education/enrollment management roles.
  • Familiarity with the Twin Cities metro education landscape and prior success recruiting in urban/suburban markets.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Slate), social media for recruitment, and data-driven decision making.
  • Background as a former admissions intern, student ambassador, or volunteer in higher education.
  • Knowledge of UMN Morris or the University of Minnesota system.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $45,505.98 - $48,500; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
