SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

The Middle Market Credit Analyst is responsible for supporting Portfolio Managers in evaluating the creditworthiness of borrowers, analyzing financial statements, and preparing detailed credit write ups and recommendations to support loan decisions. This role plays a critical part in mitigating risk and ensuring the soundness of the bank's Middle Market lending portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor and review existing loan relationships for performance, covenant compliance, and early warning signs of deterioration. Prepare annual and periodic reviews and CLARs with oversight.
  • Manage administrative aspects of the portfolio including financial statement receipt, credit file maintenance and reporting. Take appropriate remedial actions to resolve deficiencies and escalate questions to the appropriate level when necessary. Participate in special projects.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis of commercial loan applicants, including examination of balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. Understand and evaluate completed spreads for necessary edits working in collaboration with the spreading team.
  • Assess credit risk and identify key financial, operational, and industry factors impacting a borrower's ability to repay.
  • Support the preparation of comprehensive credit memos with recommendations for new credit requests, renewals, and modifications. A successful credit analyst will complete the underwriting process from beginning to end for deals of limited complexity with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate with Bankers, PMs, and Credit Officers to present findings and support credit decisions.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory developments that may affect credit risk.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and procedures.
  • Provides mentoring and guidance to other Credit Analysts.

COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and cash flow analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial analysis software.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in credit analysis, banking, or financial services preferred.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation, continuing education as assigned by the team leader in the development of core competencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents and other electronic reports. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is located in a cubicle environment that may be loud throughout the day. In order to qualify for Hybrid accommodations, associates must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.
