Currently recruiting an Diagnostic Imaging Technologist - MRI to provide care to active-duty military members and their families at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas. The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist - MRI is a full-time position. The Radiology Department provides services 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Normal duty hours will consist of forty (40) hours per week, Sunday through Saturday, including federal holidays, and training holidays. Normal shifts will be up to twelve (12) hours, including nights and/or weekends. Full benefits, including 17 days paid vacation/sick leave and 11 paid Federal holidays.

DUTIES OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST - MRI:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist specializes in using MRI scanners to create detailed images of the body. The MRI technologist plays a critical role in helping doctors diagnose and monitor medical conditions by producing clear and accurate images of organs, tissues, and structures. The MRI is a non-invasive diagnostic tool, often used to detect abnormalities, guide treatments, or assess the effectiveness of medical interventions. The MRI Technologist ensures patients receive the most accurate imaging to support their care and treatment plans.

  • Performs all established MRI imaging procedures;selects proper technique protocols.
  • Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures;uses immobilization devices, as required.
  • Processes and develops images per established procedures.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric);implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient.
  • Performs established calibration and quality control procedures to assure optimal quality of MRI equipment and service;notifies supervisor of unusual findings.
  • Participates in maintaining appropriate patient and operational records consistent with the main Radiology Department.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the correct use of body mechanics.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST - MRI:
  • Degree/Education: Associate degree or higher. Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). For MRI Technologists, an associate s degree is required.
  • Experience: Must have at least one year of full-time direct experience as a MRI technologist within the past two (2) years. This experience must include operating MRI equipment, perform diagnostic imaging procedures, and adhere to established safety protocols.
  • Certifications: For MRI Technologists: American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) registered as an MRI technologist required.
  • US Citizenship required (for access to government computer systems).
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers
