Job Description

The Manager of Coaching - Internal is a highly professional, effective, and motivated individual who will be primarily responsible for the end-to-end execution of the coaching program. The Manager, Coaching- Internal will influence a university wide strategy for coaching employees and help to foster a coaching culture while driving continuous improvements, leading programs/initiative deliverables, and delivering value to the employee experience. This role is a strategic, visionary leader with a passion for empowering others to reach their full potential; this role helps shape the future of our organization and makes a meaningful impact in the lives of university leaders and employees.

Overseeing day-to-day operations for the team, the Manager of Coaching - Internal works side-by-side with the Faculty & Staff Development, Leadership/Organizational Development, People Development Operations, and Learning Experience Design teams within People Development. They will also partner with other People & Talent (P&T) service functions to promote effective end-to-end services delivery, ensuring standards for formal coaching and mentoring are achieved across WGU.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads, coaches, develops, and inspires team members to plan, prioritize and execute initiatives and exceptional learning experience delivery to enhance the university employee experience.
  • Supports, develops, and trains the coaching team on systems and processes.
  • Serves as an escalation point to resolve complex issues for team members.
  • Liaison across People & Talent developing strong collaborative partnerships with an eye towards coaching standardization.
  • Responsible for delivering scalable and effective coach training - an ICF-certified curriculum to prepare employees for ICF accreditation.
  • Maximizes team performance through effective selection, training, coaching, appraising, and development of team members.
  • Builds, leads, and defines success metrics for coach facilitators.
  • Accountable for the day-to-day performance metrics, ensuring clear expectations align to effective and positive employee experience.
  • Recommend and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Ensures that the coaching team meets or exceeds expected performance levels.
  • Owns the relationship between the university and the International Coaching Federation (ICF) to ensure that ICF industry standards are met.
  • Works directly with Learning Experience Design to update coach curriculum when the ICF updates their competencies, or when coach assessment data proves that changes are needed.
  • Manages the ICF credential approval process when needed, to ensure that the university can continue to issue ICF credentials in coaching excellence.
  • Manages the relationship between the coach program and senior leaders in all schools/colleges, to identify coach program candidates and manage customer expectations of the program.
  • Assesses current coach processes through quantitative and qualitative data. to seek opportunities for process redesign to create efficiency and elevate employee experience.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, experience, and demonstrated accomplishments that equips the individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Inside Track Coaching Developer Certification

Experience:

  • 3 or more years of experience in coaching or teaching environment
  • Demonstrated leadership with 1-2 years leading a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Master Certified Coach (MCC) certification from ICF
  • 5 or more years' experience in coaching or teaching environment
  • Demonstrated project management experience or experience keeping tasks organized with keeping others informed of progress.

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
