Overview
Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
Responsibilities
Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in elds of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identied by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
- Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
- Contributes to advancing knowledge in eld of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
- Can solve complex problems in eld.
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Primary responsibilities include:
- Engineering analysis, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:
- Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specications; Failure Analysis; Accident Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.

- Engineering services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Q Clearance is required
- An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience.
- MS degree and 12 years' experience.
- BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience. BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- The following experience/skills are a requirement for this position:
- The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 15 years' design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry. The candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of experience working at one or more DOE facilities.
- Candidate must demonstrate experience creating and revising documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Pipe and Valve Specications; Failure Analysis; Accident
- Analysis; Finite Element Analysis; ASME Code Design and Evaluation; Pipe Stress Analysis; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; HVAC Design; and Vendor Document Reviews.
- The following qualications are preferred for this position:
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
- is preferred.
- Previous SRS Design Engineering experience and working knowledge of SRNS design processes and procedures are preferred.
