The RoleThe Director, Revenue Accounting & Operations will play a critical role in owning the revenue accounting to ensure a high quality, accurate and efficient monthly and quarterly financial close. This is a key role within the Finance organization that will also be responsible for ensuring the proper controls and policies are in place to help support AspenTech's growth structure. Based in Bedford, MA, you will have the opportunity to interact with all Finance functions as well as other groups cross functionally within the Quote-to-Cash process. Your Impact
  • Maintain revenue recognition policy for all revenue streams (License, Maintenance, Professional Services, SaaS) in accordance with ASC 606
  • Become the subject matter expert for all revenue recognition, accounts receivable and contract asset/liability related activities
  • Review the revenue determinations that are made on customer contracts
  • Manage the Revenue Operations team and all related activities including ensuring that all monthly and quarterly close activities are completed timely and in accordance with company policies
  • Manage the credit and collections team to ensure timeliness of collections and mitigate credit risk
  • Continuously assess and develop internal control structure to ensure accuracy in reported revenue and contract asset/liability balances
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and participate in related changes to address efficiencies in revenue related processes
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly and transaction-based revenue controls are completed and reviewed in a timely manner in accordance with company SOX documentation
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to help structure customer arrangements and to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies
  • Liaise with auditors to address technical accounting and other audit matters
  • Participate in the drafting of memos to address revenue recognition matters for complex customer arrangements
  • Assist other Finance teams in creating and delivering financial metrics and revenue reports to support reporting for forecasts, actuals and tax-related matters
  • Be responsible for the reconciliation all GL accounts related to revenue in addition to preparing monthly fluctuation analysis
  • Assist with the implementation of acquired business units into the company's processes/systems
What You'll Need
  • CPA preferred with experience at a Big 4 or next tier public accounting firm
  • Significant knowledge of ASC 606 and all related guidance regarding revenue recognition in a high-tech software company
  • Understanding of the requirements of SOX in a public company environment
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with peers and management up to Executive level, particularly with regard to complex customer negotiations and arrangements
  • Experience working with sales organizations and customers in a high pressure, fast paced environment
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and Zuora a plus
  • 10 + years of relevant accounting and revenue recognition experience
  • 7 years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people motivation skills
The salary range for this role is $154,200.00 - $192,800.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
