| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The mission of the college is to serve as a national model for transforming the health of rural underserved regions through excellence and innovation in nursing education, leadership, research, scholarship and practice. The
ECU, College of Nursing continuously strives to create a learning environment and workplace culture that provides opportunity, support, and consideration for all students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders. The purpose of the Department of Baccalaureate Education is to provide the student with opportunities for learning experiences which will prepare the individual for professional nursing in health agencies, homes, and communities; and to provide the opportunity for continuing personal and/or professional development. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
This position is housed in Student Services and is responsible for facilitating and managing College of Nursing clinical/practicum compliance requirements according to agency contractual agreements and accreditation guidelines for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in experiential learning opportunities required by the College of Nursing degree options. A high level of communication and organizational skills are used in this position as well as the use of multiple software platforms. Customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication, are used to provide timely and effective communication with students, faculty, staff and clinical agencies. This position is cross trained to be knowledgeable of other key components and processes within Student Services in order to assist when a fill in is needed. In person attendance at some after hours and weekend events is required. Examples include but are not limited to Open House, Pirates Aboard, and College of Nursing recognition ceremonies for graduating students. Occasional overtime is needed to meet strict agencies deadlines. This position must exercise confidentiality in accordance with policy and applicable state, federal and local laws such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (
FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (
HIPPA).
Compliance: 85%
The position provides leadership in all areas of experiential learning compliance. This position facilitates communication for faculty and students regarding compliance requirements. Multiple software platforms are used to manage reports to facilitate and monitor compliance information. Consulting with senior-level administrators will be necessary to discuss updates, changes, and practices regarding clinical requirements. A high level of communication skills are used for this position. This position will work with internal and external constituents to meet the requirements of the position and will navigate complex and sensitive confidential situations on a regular basis.
Reporting: 10%
This position will provide reports regarding students not in compliance weekly. This information will be shared with appropriate administrators and follow up with students as needed. This position will be maintain knowledge of program, policies, procedures, technology, and best practices in all areas related to higher education,
ECU and the College of Nursing in order to be successful.
Clerical: 5%
Assists with prospective student appointments and phone calls, registration or other Student Services processes as needed during peak times. |

Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or equivalency with at least 4 years of progressive office experience preferably in a medical or academic setting with supervisory training and/or experience.
This position prefers an above average knowledge of computers, software programs, and medical terminology. This position also prefers excellent public relations skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with faculty, staff, and students. This position prefers the ability to function independently with minimal instructions. |
