Position Summary:

The Facility Maintenance Technician performs preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance to keep building systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role supports day-to-day operations by responding to service requests, completing work orders, maintaining compliance with site procedures, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • (Near-term) Responsibilities in a Startup Environment: In a startup environment, the Maintenance Technician will adapt quickly to changes, lead in developing and optimizing new processes, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing inventory and resources efficiently, and troubleshooting unexpected challenges.

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on facility systems and equipment (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building components).
  • Troubleshoot and repair building issues including doors, hardware, lighting, outlets, fixtures, minor drywall/paint, flooring, and basic carpentry.
  • Support maintenance and basic troubleshooting of utility systems such as:
  • HVAC (filters, belts, basic PMs; assist with diagnostics)
  • Compressed air (as applicable)
  • Domestic water, hot water, and plumbing systems
  • Fire protection system checks (as assigned; coordinate with certified vendors)
  • Building electrical (basic troubleshooting; coordinate for high-voltage work as required)
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks per schedule and OEM recommendations; document results and follow-up actions.
  • Respond to urgent calls and off-shift issues as assigned; escalate appropriately to reduce downtime and risk.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative/predictive maintenance in a safe manner on a wide variety of equipment and utility systems utilizing strong electrical, mechanical and PLC skills.
  • Participate in safety programs to meet program requirements and contribute to the growth of our site's safety culture.
  • Maintain records and complete paperwork in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Determine parts required for repairs and submit requisition.
  • Understand Site SOPs and cGMPs relative to the position and work within compliance of those standards.
  • Complete paperwork/data entry in accordance with regulatory compliance.

Projects and Vendor Coordination:

  • Assist with small facility projects (installations, relocations, minor renovations, upgrades).
  • Coordinate vendor access, escorts, and job oversight; verify scope completion and ensure the work area is left clean and safe.
  • Support asset management by helping maintain equipment lists, PM plans, spare parts, and tooling.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to reduce failures, improve reliability, and optimize PM effectiveness.
  • Communicate recurring issues and proposed corrective actions to the Facilities/Engineering team.

Relationships:

Inside the Company

  • Coordinate with all site colleagues to ensure work completion.

Outside the Company

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and other site colleagues.
  • Interacts with Regulatory Agencies

Education and Experience:

Preferred Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED. Two years' experience in the electro/mechanical, electronics, refrigeration or other applicable field.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree from an accredited technical/trade school in the electro/mechanical, electronics, refrigeration or other applicable field with 2 years industrial experience.

Technical Skills and Competence Required:

  • Understand Site SOPs and cGMPs relative to the position and work within compliance of those standards.
  • Complete paperwork/data entry in accordance with regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in relevant technical areas.
  • Good communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of the Zoetis organization.
  • Willingness to assist other technicians with work tasks as needed, a solid team player.
  • Can analyze problems and provide support in determining appropriate corrective and preventative actions, with minimal assistance.
  • Capable of simultaneously managing multiple assignments.
  • Prioritizes own work. Flexible and responsive to changes.
  • Ability to competently operate and have a working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Preferred: Associate's degree from an accredited technical/trade school in the electro/mechanical, electronics, refrigeration or other applicable field with 2 years industrial experience.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; reach, stretch hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, push & pull objects, rotating and repetitive movements, climb stairs and must be able to see, talk or hear. The employee must lift up to 50 pounds; and/or move and/or transport objects/waste. Exposed to variant shifts and extended hours. Subject to stressful environment.

  • Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
  • Must be comfortable working in varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours with the ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of 5 to 50 lbs.
  • Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee very frequently works in operational environments (Utilities and Machine Shop Areas, among other areas). The noise of these work environments can vary from typical office noises to high (above 85 dBA) machinery noises and high temperatures. Also makes use of computer programs such as CMMS, Intranet portals, and Microsoft office among others. Position can require traveling between locations.
