JOB TITLE: Manager Outage
DEPARTMENT: Work Management
LOCATION: Burlington, KS
PAY RANGE: 16D - $124,500 -$207,500

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides overall oversight of the refueling and forced outage preparation and implementation, develops and maintains the long-range refueling outage plan, develops departmental and outage budgets, and maintains applicable procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight of the overall outage preparation and implementation for the station.
  • Develop, maintain, and report on the milestone schedule and associated performance indicators.
  • Assign High Impact Team leaders and members of the Outage Planning Group.
  • Assign the outage control center team including appropriate approval from station management.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the forced outage schedule for the station.
  • Oversee the outage and forced outage report preparation and distribution.
  • Manage the outage critique database and resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain the long-range refueling outage plan which includes scope documents, Level 1 schedules with estimated durations, dose estimates, and budget estimates.
  • Defines major work windows and critical path. Coordinates horizontal and vertical schedule reviews. Ensures schedule risk assessments are completed.
  • Develop and maintain the annual budget for the outage group, and the refueling outage budget, including presenting the budget for approval.
  • Maintain procedures, desktop instructions, and business rules controlled by the outage group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position requires one of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field and eight years of nuclear power plant experience
  • A Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license and eight years of nuclear power plant experience
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent and 14 years of nuclear power plant experience

Nuclear power plant experience includes work in operations, maintenance, engineering, work management, or radiation protection/chemistry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Previous SRO license or certification preferred.

COGNITIVE SKILLS (language, mathematics, reasoning):

  • This position requires the ability to: read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • This position requires the ability to: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

VISION:
This position has no special vision requirements.

This position requires the ability to work in a quiet environment (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic, library, private office).
