Fortrea is seeking an experienced EHS leader to play a critical role in advancing our global in the pivotal role of Senor Manager, Environment, Health, and Safety strategy. Partnering closely with site leaders and key stakeholders, this individual will provide expert EHS guidance to help minimize employee illnesses and injuries, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, and proactively identify and mitigate EHS-related risks, including fires, hazardous materials, and environmental releases. The successful candidate will support continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen EHS programs across sites, and help foster a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key or Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the EHS lead for regional support across the Americas and Clinical Research Units (CRUs), maintaining EHS systems, policies, and governance requirements.
  • Provide technical EHS guidance on hazard assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strengthen EHS policies, SOPs, and training programs to ensure effective implementation and ongoing compliance across sites.
  • Oversee CRU EHS compliance in key areas, including biosafety, chemical safety, radioactive materials, hazardous waste, and permitting requirements.
  • Lead internal EHS audits, support external audits and inspections, and drive timely corrective actions.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to promote EHS awareness, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and enhance overall EHS performance.
  • All other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field; 10+ years of relevant experience, or Advanced degree and 7+ years related experience.
  • 10 Years of experience in EHS.
  • Fluency in English for speaking, writing, and reading

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Safety or Environmental fields is preferred.
  • Preferably in a laboratory or research and development setting.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional drives to site locations, occasional domestic travel.
  • Exposure to biological fluids.
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Varied hours may be required.
