Elderwood Administrative Services is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team in Williamsville, NY. Working fully onsite at our corporate office, you'll collaborate closely with finance colleagues, facility leadership, and operational partners while gaining hands-on experience across skilled nursing, assisted living, pediatric specialty care, and pharmacy operations.

What You'll Do
- Prepare financial statements and analyze budget variances and operational trends.
- Present monthly financial results to facility leaders and executive leadership.
- Complete monthly close activities, including expense accruals, adjusting entries, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Partner with administrators and department leaders to review financial performance and address questions.
- Assist with the development of annual operating budgets.
- Prepare workpapers and supporting schedules for external audits.
- Contribute to special projects focused on financial accuracy, efficiency, and organizational performance.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do As a Staff Accountant:
- Perform monthly financial accounting and analysis for assigned companies.
- Prepare internal financial statements for operational leaders and external financial statements for lenders.
- Analyze financial performance, including budget variances and month-over-month trends.
- Present monthly operating results and financial insights to facility leadership and the executive team.
- Support the monthly close process for multiple companies, including expense accruals, adjusting entries, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Partner with facility administrators and department leaders to review financial reports, budget comparisons, and operating results.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
- Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules for external auditors.
- Contribute to special projects and other financial initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
What We're Looking for in a Staff Accountant:
You're an analytical, detail-oriented accounting professional who can turn financial information into clear, useful insights. You're comfortable managing deadlines, working across multiple priorities, and collaborating with both financial and operational leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least three years of relevant accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-financial partners
