State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Construction is currently recruiting for a Regional Construction Engineer (Transportation Engineer Manager II) in Anne Arundel County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below by the closing date. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy or function only. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted for this job classification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in professional engineering, including one (1) year of supervisory or consultant management experience.

Selective Qualification: Four (4) years of the required experience must have involved work as an on-site project manager on a road or bridge construction project or as a project coordinator on multiple concurrent road or bridge construction projects.

Selective qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).

Preferred Qualification:
The ideal candidate should have the following:

• Extensive knowledge and experience in highway and bridge inspection practices
• A working knowledge of construction inspection procedures such as grading, drainage, structures, paving, utilities, landscaping, traffic, materials, and surveying.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications, and the ability to make effective decisions.
• An aptitude to learn new processes and ways to improve project delivery, as well as an attitude toward continuous improvement of field staff mentoring and training, quality construction, and collaborative working relationships across the department.

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in state of Maryland.

Special Requirements:

Must be available and willing to accept assignments statewide and work shift work, overtime or weekends as necessary.
