The Engine Technician Helper cleans turbine engine parts and maintains the equipment and chemicals required to support turbine engine maintenance while learning how to inspect and repair the engines. As opportunities arise and time allows, the Helper (under immediate supervision of a certificated technician) will learn and become competent in inspection and repair of engines and components in a safe and clean work environment according to manufacturer's specifications, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, and customer specifications.

Essential Job Functions



  1. Cleans engine parts, once the Engine Technicians have disassembled the engine. Assists with engine disassembly as directed by Team Leader or supervisor.

  2. Responsible for proper labeling, and storage of all chemicals throughout the engine shop. Coordinates disposal of wastes with appropriate facilities team members.

  3. Performs minor maintenance and repair for shop equipment and coordinates unscheduled maintenance of shop equipment with appropriate team members. Responds to department requests for picking up and delivering shop items, supplies, equipment, etc.

  4. Monitors and completes the daily and weekly checklists of assigned tasks pertaining to chemical and equipment support.

  5. Under the supervision and training of certificated technicians, assists in high quality inspections, servicing, repair, and maintenance of engines and components. Uses proper hand tools and appropriate technical data and follows verbal instructions when accomplishing assigned maintenance tasks. Works in a timely, clean, safe and professional manner. Orders general parts as needed.

  6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.



Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified; Man Lift qualified as needed by job location; tool inventory per department tool list required within 6 months of hire date.
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments



Education and Experience



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Enrollment in FAA Approved Powerplant Maintenance program preferred
