Position Summary

The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing and decorating pastries, desserts, baked goods, and specialty items according to established recipes and production standards. This position supports banquet and resort operations by ensuring consistent product quality, exceptional presentation, and compliance with food safety and sanitation requirements.

Essential Responsibilities



  • Prepare pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert preparation, and plate presentation.
  • Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards for all pastry products.
  • Ensure compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations, including local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Support inventory management and proper utilization of supplies to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with culinary team members and other resort departments.
  • Deliver exceptional service and professionalism to internal and external guests.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and service standards.


Qualifications

Required



  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of culinary, food and beverage, pastry, or related experience.


Preferred



  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Restaurant Management, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional pastry or culinary experience.
  • OSHA Hazard Communication training or certification.

  • Knowledge of pastry production methods and baking techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Must possess the strength, stamina, and agility required to perform kitchen duties.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear the required uniform and slip-resistant, closed-toe footwear.
  • Adhere to all company safety, security, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Immediately report accidents, injuries, maintenance concerns, and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally responsible work environment.
