The Georgia Tech Library is a member of the University System of Georgia library consortia, Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE), the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), and the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), and the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACRL). The Georgia Tech Library has a unique and progressive service model that relies heavily on technology and electronic formats. Electronic resources account for 79% of our overall content, 98% of the Library's content expenditures and 99% of our content usage and the majority of our print collections are held in a high-density, climate-controlled storage facility in collaboration with Emory University Libraries. Georgia Tech Library seeks an innovative and engagement-focused librarian for the Public Programming Librarian position. The position enriches the student experience and supports the broader Georgia Tech community by developing programs, events, and outreach initiatives that connect students, faculty, and staff with library resources, services, collections, and research. The position fosters an environment centered on engagement, collaboration, and partnership by cultivating relationships across campus and creating opportunities that strengthen connections between the Library and the Georgia Tech community on campus and off.

The Public Programming Librarian advances the Library's mission through the development and delivery of dynamic programming and outreach activities that respond to emerging campus needs and evolving student interests. The librarian provides support for planning, developing, and delivering engaging events and outreach initiatives that support the Georgia Tech community including students, faculty, and staff. In addition, this position conducts outreach and develops partnerships with colleagues and units across campus to increase awareness of library services, highlight Georgia Tech research and scholarship, and foster meaningful engagement with library resources. Through innovative programming and strategic collaboration, the Public Programming Librarian creates inclusive opportunities for learning, discovery, and community building.

80% Librarianship

Design and deliver public programs (in-person, hybrid, and asynchronous) that connect the Georgia Tech community to library services, collections, and spaces.

Develop programming that highlights collections, showcases Georgia Tech research, and responds to evolving campus needs and student interests.

Organize and deliver programs and outreach initiatives that enhance student engagement, promote academic achievement, foster community, and support student success throughout the Georgia Tech experience.

Lead program logistics, including scheduling, space coordination, partner communication, and event execution.

Collaborate with library colleagues to align programming with outreach, instruction, and institutional priorities.

Build and sustain partnerships with campus units and external collaborators to co-develop programs and extend reach.

Assess program effectiveness using feedback and participation data to inform continuous improvement.

Develop workflows and documentation to support consistent delivery and clear communication.

Stay current with trends and implement innovative approaches to enhance engagement and advance library strategic goals.

Develop and maintain proficiency in emerging technologies relevant to their role, including artificial intelligence (AI).

Align use of emerging technologies with organizational policies, applicable laws, data privacy requirements, and professional standards.

According to expectations for library faculty members, contribute professionally through research, scholarship, and creative activities.

10% Service

Foster positive relations with faculty, students, and staff and promote the Institute and Library's commitment to the Georgia Tech values.

Serve on library and university committees as assigned.

Contribute to the profession through service to professional organizations at the local, state, regional, and national levels, as appropriate.

All members of the Georgia Tech Library Faculty have an effort distribution based on their role. The distribution for this faculty role is 80% librarianship, 10% scholarship and creative endeavors, and 10% professional service.

This position vacancy will be filled at the rank of Librarian I. Librarian I/Archivist I

Appointment to this rank requires an appropriate terminal degree, typically an American Library Association (ALA) - accredited master's degree, a degree in a subject related to archival work, and/or in the appropriate area of specialization.

Required Experience: 0-3 years of related experience

Experience planning and delivering public programs, events, or outreach initiatives in an academic library or higher education setting.

Experience building and sustaining partnerships with campus units, students, faculty, staff, student organizations, and/or external collaborators.

Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and to remain professional, resourceful, and composed while balancing hands-on operational responsibilities with the planning and execution of high-profile events and engagements.

Knowledge of current trends in academic libraries, student engagement, and public programming (e.g., student success, belonging, experiential learning, etc.).

Experience coordinating event logistics, including space management, scheduling, and vendor/partner communication.

Experience with or interest in delivering library instruction and/or research support services.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, benefits-eligible position with a salary of $69,185 commensurate with education and experience.
