DESCRIPTION
Essential Job Functions
  • Takes building ownership and is proactive in meeting all facility, department and programming needs.
  • Effective communication and support of Principal's requests for all programming and operational needs.
  • Provides leadership, trains and schedules all custodial and maintenance assignments.
  • Supervises the correct, efficient and proper use of custodial chemical supplies. Maintains and inventories stock to ensure availability of all supplies.
  • Maintains employee records of staffing hours, overtime, absences, and other disciplinary issues as required.
  • Provides accurate employee evaluations to the Director of Buildings & Grounds and Principal.
  • Establishes and implements a preventive maintenance plan for building facilities, equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong support and participation in the district's Energy Education program.
  • Is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the building, grounds and equipment.
  • Maintains the heating, ventilating, plumbing, lighting systems, lawns, sports fields, and play areas with available resources.
  • Keeps all storage and mechanical areas in organized, neat, clean, and safe condition.
  • Work with local and state agencies on environmental, fire, and safety code issues pertaining to their facility.
  • Advises the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor of repair and maintenance action required for facilities and equipment.
  • Works with the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor in developing the site maintenance and operations budget.
  • Works with the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor in establishing and prioritizing appropriate construction services projects to meet short/long range facility needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor or building Principal.
  • Shows initiative and demonstrates courteous and professional conduct in performing all tasks.
  • Works additional hours as needed to cover events or school needs

Must be capable of, on a continuous basis, standing, walking, stair climbing, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty; repetitive movement of both hands and arms. Must be capable of, on a frequent basis, bending, stooping, pushing or pulling heavy objects; lifting and carrying objects weighing 80 lbs. Must be capable of, on an occasional basis, climbing ladders, driving a light truck or equipment, or working at heights to 30 feet above the ground.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High School diploma.
  2. Facilities Management Certification preferred.
  3. Exemplary attendance and work record.
  4. Leadership skills or educational training in Custodial/Maintenance Supervision and staff evaluation.
  5. Strong knowledge of building systems including, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.
  6. Strong knowledge and proficiency in detailed cleaning practices, equipment care, and product application.
  7. Experience in public relations and communication skills, ability to work/relate with staff, students, and public.
  8. Proven strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.
  9. Positive team-oriented work attitude that supports department initiatives and changes.
  10. Demonstrate proficiency/support of 21st-century technology which may include Microsoft Office/Exchange, Skyward, EMS systems, iPad, entry programming, alarm systems, etc.
