Position Summary The Guest Services Associate serves as the primary point of contact for members, guests, clients, volunteers, and visitors to the Red Shield Center and Corps campus. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming, safe, and professional environment by providing exceptional customer service, accurate information, and timely assistance. The Guest Services Associate supports daily operations by greeting and directing visitors, facilitating program access, responding to inquiries, and ensuring a positive experience that reflects The Salvation Army's mission, values, and commitment to serving the community. Essential Functions
- Provide exceptional customer service to all members, clients, guests, volunteers, and visitors by ensuring prompt, courteous, and professional assistance at all times.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for guests by greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, directing individuals to programs and services, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects The Salvation Army's mission and values.
- Process memberships, registrations, reservations, and retail transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all Red Shield Center cash-handling policies and procedures, including accepting payments, balancing assigned cash tills, preparing deposits, and accurately documenting transactions.
- Promote and communicate information regarding memberships, programs, activities, special events, and services to help guests identify opportunities that best meet their needs.
- Conduct facility tours and assist prospective members and guests by explaining facility amenities, program offerings, and membership benefits.
- Build positive relationships with members, clients, guests, and community partners through professional, courteous, and effective communication.
- Assist with event preparation, room set-ups, and program activities as assigned, helping to ensure successful operations and positive guest experiences.
- Monitor guest, member, and customer interactions to support compliance with Protecting the Mission policies and maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
- Observe facility conditions and report maintenance, safety, security, or operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department in a timely manner.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional reception and work area, ensuring public-facing spaces remain welcoming and presentable.
- Follow all Red Shield Center operating procedures, departmental guidelines, and administrative policies.
- Observe and promote all safety rules, regulations, and emergency procedures to help ensure the well-being of guests, members, staff, and volunteers.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as assigned.
- Maintain the confidentiality of member, client, employee, and organizational information in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Red Shield Center and Corps operations.
Working Conditions Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Minimum Qualifications
- Previous customer service and point-of-sale experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers & supervisors.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
- Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification withing the first 90 days of employment.
- Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- High school diploma or diploma in progress.
- Computer experience helpful.
- Must have the ability to work with children, parents, staff and a variety of ages and groups.
