We are seeking a talented and visually driven Print Designer to join our team onsite in Elmhurst, Illinois. This role requires someone with strong design capabilities-not simply production or template-based execution.

The designer will initially focus on creating 8.5 x 11 brochures and other print collateral supporting State of Illinois initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for layout, typography, composition, and visual storytelling, along with a portfolio that demonstrates the ability to conceptualize and design compelling print materials from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize & Design: Develop creative, visually engaging layouts for 8.5 x 11 brochures and other print collateral from concept through completion.
  • Brand Stewardship: Translate complex information into clear, engaging, and easy-to-digest visual communications while adhering to established brand guidelines.
  • Typography & Composition: Apply strong knowledge of page layout, grid systems, typography, visual hierarchy, and color theory.
  • Print Production: Prepare accurate, press-ready files, including proper bleeds, trims, color profiles, and other print specifications.
  • Image Editing: Retouch, edit, and composite imagery as needed to support design concepts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project stakeholders, copywriters, and other team members onsite to incorporate feedback and iterate quickly.
  • Quality Control: Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail across all layouts and deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably with a strong emphasis on print.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual and editorial design skills, not just production-level formatting or template execution.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, composition, grids, and visual hierarchy.
  • Experience preparing files for professional print production.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including alignment, typography, image quality, and proofing.
  • Ability to work onsite and collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders.

Additional Details

  • 100% onsite in Elmhurst, IL
  • 30-40 hours per week
  • Contract opportunity with potential for conversion; full-time conversion is not guaranteed.
