Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer on supplier corrective and preventive actions to assure consistent product quality. In addition, they will perform Manufacturing Plan reviews, Customer & Industry flow down requirements, new supplier development, develop poor performing suppliers and audits as needed.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Assisting the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer in:

    • maintaining and driving Supplier Quality Improvement
    • maintaining and driving to closure all Supplier Corrective Actions (CAR's)
    • managing supplier triage / line down situations and recovery.
    • performing capability studies and gauge R&R with suppliers while developing / managing improvement plans.
    • reviewing of drawing and Customer and Industry flow down requirements with the supplier.
    • Training suppliers on Quality / Statistical tools and Quality systems.
    • Validating DMR's issued to suppliers.
    • Dailey review of triage tables


  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and develop Control Plans.
  • Perform Quality System and Manufacturing Plan/Process/Product audits to assure robust mistake proofed processes and consistent product quality.
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Support SCM Supplier Watchlist and act on poor performing suppliers.
  • Responsible for requesting, receiving, tracking, and approving supplier manufacturing plans as required.



    • Pre-production Manufacturing Plan reviews




Additional Duties:



  • Support Supply Chain and Quality as needed.
  • Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
  • Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.
  • Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.



Qualifications:



  • Inspection and/or Quality Assurance experience. (Aerospace or automotive industry experience is preferred).
  • Problem solving skills/experience.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and quality systems
  • Competent in reading/interpreting engineering drawing (GD&T experience is a plus).
  • Competent with metrology equipment.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience and knowledge of statistical software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Willing to travel.
  • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
  • Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
  • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.



Education:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates degree (preferred) or 3+ years of Quality experience
