Job Description

Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) as a Software Developer and help modernize the financial systems that power the Naval Reactors Program. In this role, you'll work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Time Management System (TMS), and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platforms-driving the transition to secure cloud-based SaaS solutions and infusing AI/ML to improve forecasting, analytics, and decision making. You'll collaborate across Financial Services, Procurement, Materials & Information Management, IT, and HR to deliver high impact solutions within the Business Systems Program Management Office, a fast-paced environment focused on optimizing business operations.



What You'll Do:



  • Contribute to AI/ML initiatives that automate and enhance financial processes (e.g., forecasting, budgeting, anomaly detection) under the guidance of senior developers and analysts.
  • Develop and enhance components of ERP, TMS, and EPM solutions, and assist with cloud/SaaS migrations in collaboration with senior developers and architects.
  • Design, build, and enhance reporting and data solutions that incorporate AI/ML?driven insights, working closely with analytics and business teams.
  • Translate defined business requirements into clear technical designs for features and enhancements, and participate in validating new features and upgrades (testing, documentation, and user feedback).
  • Implement and maintain data and analytics features, including near real?time reporting, that reduce manual work and support data?driven decisions.
  • Follow established best practices, security standards, and ethical AI guidelines, and apply them consistently in your code and solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT, business units, and other stakeholders to deliver modern, AI?enhanced capabilities as part of a cross?functional team.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with ERP/TMS/EPM cloud solutions; Oracle ERP experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Java or similar languages, relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle), and building or maintaining data pipelines.
  • Experience building integrations and data workflows (e.g., REST APIs, ETL tools, Azure Data Factory, SSIS) and working with data warehouse or data lake environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and DevOps practices, including Git based source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools and platforms (e.g., Azure ML, Microsoft Copilot, SpyglassGPT or similar), and ability to consume and integrate AI/ML services or models via APIs with attention to data privacy and responsible AI.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, or apps using tools such as Power BI and Power Apps, and exposure to ServiceNow for workflow or ticketing; experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Understanding of common software design principles and patterns, and ability to collaborate effectively with other developers, analysts, and business stakeholders in a cross functional team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities.

Pay Range
$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
