The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group, located in Irvine, California. Our products are used across military and commercial platforms globally. We specialize in cutting edge thermal management systems and components including fans, pumps and compressors, ammunition handling systems, weapon scoring systems, dynamic pressure sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, towed targets, reeling machines, and associated telemetry.

Shipping & Receiving Coordinator - Defense System Division

Position Summary/Essential Functions:

With minimum supervision, perform functions related to shipping and receiving verify and process incoming materials; move material to Receiving Inspection; resolve problems; prepare material for shipment via packaging, crating, palletizing, strapping, etc.; prepare bills-of-lading and shipping documents; enter computer transactions and maintain good housekeeping and a safe area. Maybe required to make pick-ups and deliveries using company vehicles. Must be available to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities:

* Verify incoming material and supplies for processing into the receiving system. Enter associated computer transactions.
* Deliver material and associated paperwork to receiving inspection area and supplies to requesting departments.
* Prepare materials for shipment includes boxing, crating, palletizing, strapping and weighing and preparing bills of lading. Distribute completed shippers as required. Some interaction with export compliance personnel.
* Log receipts, returns and shipments in the appropriate spreadsheets.
* Load and unload vehicles, manually or with forklift.
* Follow company safety and PPE requirements. Maintain safe work areas and good housekeeping.
* Perform other tasks as assigned.
* Requisition supplies and tools as required.
* Assist other departments when assigned.
* Complete facility organization and clean-up projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 2 - 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with computerized shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with material handling equipment, digital weigh-counting scales, commercial freight bills, and UPS and FEDEX shipments.
  • Experience in palletizing and packaging. Proof of forklift driver training and/or experience required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Transaction entry and use of inquiry screens. Use of on-line freight carrier systems. Use of email system. Basic use of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Computer terminal, laser printer, calculator, telephone, copier, digital counting scale, counterbalance scale, forklift, company vehicles, pallet jack, ladders, banding and wrapping equipment and some hand and power tools.
  • Position requires ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move/lift objects.
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, carrying and parts counting.
  • Requires someone who learns quickly and works well with only minimal direction.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • The noise level in the area is usually moderate. The stockroom and shipping/receiving areas are not air-conditioned. Employees may be exposed to occasional dust and vehicle exhausts.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and deal with changing conditions as required. Shop environment contains hazardous materials, dust, moving equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and metal chips from cutting, milling, drilling and turning operations. Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California, New York, Washington. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations.
