Job Summary:

The ASC 740 Managing Director is responsible for leading the delivery of income tax accounting and reporting services in accordance with ASC 740 for a diverse client base, overseeing complex tax provision engagements, providing technical guidance on income tax accounting matters, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards while acting as a primary client contact for complex ASC 740 matters. In this role, the Managing Director is charged with developing and maintaining client relationships, managing engagement teams, and contributing to business development initiatives. In addition, the Managing Director is responsible for mentoring staff, driving process improvements, ensuring quality standards are met, and collaborating with firm leadership to advance the ASC 740 practice. The Managing Director stays current on regulatory changes and industry trends to provide clients with proactive, value-added insights.

Job Duties:

  • Oversees the preparation and review of income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 for public and/or private clients
  • Provides technical guidance on complex tax accounting issues, including uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and deferred tax assets/liabilities
  • Leads and manages multiple client engagements, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with professional standards
  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for ASC 740 matters
  • Supports business development efforts, including proposal development and client presentations
  • Mentors, trains, and evaluates staff and senior team members within the ASC 740 department
  • Collaborates with other service lines and firm leadership to deliver integrated solutions to clients
  • Monitors regulatory and industry developments related to income tax accounting and communicates relevant updates to clients and internal teams
  • Drives process improvements and implements best practices within the ASC 740 practice
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred
  • Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in income tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740, required
  • Experience in managing the process of preparing and auditing ASC740 computations for both privately held and/or publicly traded clients, required
  • Prior supervisory experience, required
  • Multinational client experience, preferred

License/Certifications:

  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required

Software:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required
  • Experience with tax provision software (such as OneSource Tax Provision), preferred
  • Experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA Proficient in all tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers, preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of ASC 740 and related tax accounting standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and able to develop and manage a team of tax professionals
  • Ability to effectively delegate work as needed
  • Ability to compose written tax advice
  • Demonstrated business development and client relationship management skills
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients
  • Ability to travel as needed

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

Maryland Range: $185,000 - $260,000
Massachusetts Range: $215,000 - $300,000
New Jersey Range: $190,000 - $350,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $230,000 - $350,000
Washington DC Range: $190,000 - $300,000
