Medical Director - Clinical Informatics (3 openings - Part Time in Ambulatory, Peri-Operative, and Inpatient)

We are searching for 3 part time Medical Directors for Clinical Informatics - we will be hiring any where 12 hours a week up to 20 hours a week in Ambulatory, PeriOp, and Inpatient.
The Medical Director of Clinical Informatics will coordinate, integrate, and analyze clinical processes across Health System Health System using clinical information technology, process design, and evidence to improve patient care, quality, and financial goals. They will work collaboratively with their colleagues and other members of the care team, Information Technology, Nursing Informatics, Analytics, Quality and other key partners on the design and implementation of technology to improve care and experiences of Health System's patients, providers, team members. In partnership with ACHIO, CHIO and CNIO, this role develops the informatics program, people, and methodologies across Health System Health.

Essential Job Functions:

* Assists the activities related to the development, organization, direction, and promotion of informatics initiatives within IHS to include hospitals, ambulatory clinics, emergency department, continuing medical education programs, and in-service events.

* Directs clinical and operational improvement teams in developing and refining clinical designs, requirements, and workflows. May lead clinical and operational improvement teams, directing documentation of designs, requirements, and workflows and translating these requirements into specifications for the IT team. Facilitates stakeholder and governance approval of these designs.

* Ensures IT systems are designed to meet the clinical goals of high reliability care and a seamless experience for patients and providers. Supports system-wide projects and initiatives to ensure that implementation and redesign of IT systems are maximally effective.

* Actively participates in safety initiatives and implements risk-mitigating measures as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all position-related requirements.

* Maintains up-to-date clinical information system change management databases, evidence-based content, issue tracking tools, and related knowledge bases.

* Contributes to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles and/or technical and procedural documentation as needed.

* Serves as a key liaison to information systems, communicating to establish priorities and devise targeted approaches for service lines and specific physician concerns. Also serves as a liaison between health system providers, clinicians, and information system leadership.

* Facilitates adoption of EMRs and builds relationships with internal and external clinicians to promote technology adoption and clinical practice standards.

* Works collaboratively across departments and with service line leaders to plan, create, and implement improvements, as well as develop and implement clinical information systems change and proactive business intelligence. Also works with a wide range of professionals including multidisciplinary teams, quality assurance, information systems, training personnel, and system performance improvement teams to facilitate and implement change initiatives.

* May coordinate the development and delivery of educational content and training for internal and external physicians, support staff, and IHS team members in partnership with IHS training team, super users, and other clinical support leaders. Provides guidance to colleagues with less experience and models effective informatics practices. Works collaboratively across the organization to mentor and support the development of informatics capabilities among team members.

Education Requirements:

REQUIRED:

* Physician training and degree as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements

PREFERRED:

* Master's degree OR a significant amount of directly related work experience that provides the same level of skills and knowledge as a Master's degree

EXPERIENCE:

* Three years in clinical informatics and Epic Clinical Applications

* Three years of experience in a complex healthcare setting

* Knowledge and demonstrated experience of relevant regulatory requirements, such as HITECH, HIPAA Privacy & Security and other CMS regulations and guidelines.

* In-depth knowledge of clinical practice, health care administration; patient safety; information and data management systems and associated software applications and configurations

* Analytical ability necessary to support and evaluate complex projects and initiatives

* Mastery of skills required to support the build and management of data systems and the ability to analyze complex data sets to address clinical, operational, and personnel management issues

* Change management, project management skills, including financial and budget management, scheduling and resource management.

* Experience with Quality improvement and IT methodologies. Agile, LEAN, product, Agil, ITIL

License/Certifications:

REQUIRED:

* Licensure as appropriate to clinical background and state requirements

* Board certification from a specialty board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.

* Some manner of quality, safety or process improvement certification or similar experience.

PREFERRED:

* Board certification in Clinical Informatics certification or degree.

* Epic certifications
