Seeking Medical / Healthcare Recruiter for U.S. Government Support - Iraq (Baghdad & Erbil)

Cherokee Federal is recruiting experienced Medical / Healthcare Recruiter to support U.S. government medical operations in Iraq. Provide medical-surgical, general, emergency, and specialty nursing support at the Diplomatic Support Hospital or Consulate General Erbil Health Unit. The Medical / Healthcare Recruiter is responsible for identifying, sourcing, screening, qualifying and maintaining pipelines of healthcare professionals capable of supporting high-threat Department of State medical operations in Iraq.

The Recruiter must possess a strong understanding of medical specialties, clinical licenses, certifications, credentialing and OCONUS deployment requirements and must be capable of rapidly identifying qualified replacement personnel for mission-critical healthcare positions.

This role requires the contractor to begin hiring immediately following Notice to Proceed, maintain qualified staffing, and develop pre-vetted replacement pipelines for key personnel.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Medical / Healthcare Recruiter: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruit qualified healthcare professionals to support Mission Iraq operations in Baghdad and Erbil.

  • Develop proactive pipelines for key and mission-critical medical positions.

  • Recruit across disciplines including:

  • Physicians/Medical Directors

  • Registered Nurses

  • Emergency/Trauma/OR/ICU personnel

  • Paramedics

  • Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners

  • Surgeons and surgical personnel

  • CRNAs

  • Laboratory Technologists

  • Radiology/CT/Ultrasound personnel

  • Pharmacists

  • Dentists

  • Behavioral Health professionals

  • Public Health personnel

  • Other required healthcare support positions.

  • Source candidates through ClearanceJobs, LinkedIn Recruiter, professional medical networks, veteran networks, previous OCONUS personnel and other recruiting channels.

  • Conduct detailed candidate screening against position-specific education, experience, licenses and certification requirements.

  • Verify candidate willingness and ability to deploy to Iraq and work in an austere/high-threat environment.

  • Coordinate collection and validation of resumes, licenses, certifications and credentialing documentation required for Nomination Packets.

  • Partner with credentialing teams to ensure medical credentials remain current.

  • Track candidates through sourcing, screening, interview, credentialing, security vetting, medical clearance and deployment.

  • Develop and maintain qualified backup candidates for mission-critical positions.

  • Respond rapidly to unexpected vacancies. This role requires notification within 24 hours, acting coverage for key positions within 72 hours, and qualified permanent replacements at the place of performance within 45 days.

  • Maintain candidate pipelines with as much pre-vetting/pre-deployment activity completed as possible to shorten replacement timelines.

  • Participate in weekly staffing-status discussions.

  • Maintain accurate ATS/recruiting records and staffing reports.

  • Coordinate closely with Project Management, Operations, HR, Credentialing, Security and Mobilization teams.

  • Ensure candidate information and healthcare documentation are handled in accordance with privacy/PII requirements.

  • Provide market intelligence on availability, compensation, deployment willingness and talent-pool challenges.

  • Perform other recruiting and staffing responsibilities as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Health Sciences or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of recruiting experience, including substantial experience recruiting healthcare/medical professionals.

  • Demonstrated understanding of medical licenses, certifications and healthcare credentialing.

  • Experience recruiting multiple clinical disciplines simultaneously.

  • Strong candidate sourcing and Boolean-search capabilities.

  • Experience working with an ATS and maintaining candidate/staffing pipelines.

  • Ability to operate under aggressive staffing and deployment deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of candidate-documentation and credential-verification processes.

  • Strong Microsoft Office/ATS skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Working knowledge of healthcare credentials such as RN/licensure, board certifications, ACLS, BLS, PALS, ATLS, SANE/SAFE, ARRT/ARDMS, paramedic credentials and other applicable medical certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Nursing or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of healthcare recruiting.

  • Experience recruiting healthcare professionals for federal government contracts.

  • Previous DoS, DoW, OCONUS, Iraq or Middle East region, Embassy or contingency-contract recruiting experience.

  • Experience recruiting security-cleared medical professionals.

  • Experience with rapid response staffing and difficult-to-fill clinical specialties.

  • Experience coordinating credentialing, MRPT/security processing, medical clearances, passports, mobilization and OCONUS deployment.

  • Experience maintaining ready-to-deploy candidate pipelines.

Preferred Certifications:

  • SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP

  • PHR / SPHR

  • AIRS Certified Internet Recruiter or similar sourcing certification

  • Healthcare recruiting/credentialing certification

  • BLS or other basic healthcare certification is advantageous but not required.

  • Must pass pre-employment requirements of Cherokee Federal.
