  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.

Responsibilities

  • The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits.
  • Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
  • Designs and implements the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment, using appropriate modalities.
  • Documents findings of patient progress and monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed, seeking consultation as necessary.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.
  • Maintains accurate and timely medical records, daily charges and personnel in-service attendance records.
  • Maintains a proactive involvement in the performance improvement process as it relates to departmental, site and network functions.
  • Practices in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's and/or doctoral degree preferred.
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Licensed by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of experience.
