Overview

With the Director of Protective Services & Parking manage and coordinate Yale-New Haven Hospital's parking and transit system; paying particular attention to the parking needs of patients, visitors, and staff in a cost effective manner. Oversee the daily business provided by the parking and transit vendors on site staff. Act as a liaison between customers and the on site vendors, when called upon. Familiarization with all points of the vendor contracts to ensure that Yale-New Haven Hospital is receiving all of the services that have been laid out in the contract. Work with parking and transit vendors making sure that they are following the hospitals guidelines regarding customer service and satisfaction. Continually refine and update the Hospitals Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program to maximize enrollment and reduce use of single occupancy vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Meet regularly with the Director to discuss parking and budget issues, providing explanations for budget variances and an action plan to correct the variance.
  • 2. Continually monitor Transportation Demand Management strategies and work on ways to increase employee participation in the TDM program by refining the program as necessary. Implementing new strategies and ideas-appropriate and serving as a key leader with appropriate hospital community and other agencies.
  • 3. Manage and monitor shuttle routes and ridership to be certain that the Hospital is receiving the most cost effective service through ridership, routes and customer satisfaction.
  • 4. Address any/all customer reported complaints, making every effort to resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner, improve customer satisfaction through creative and innovative ideas.
  • 5. On a regular basis, meet with the parking and shuttle service management group to address customer concerns and the service that is provided.
  • 6. Frequently visit and spot check all parking, shuttle and valet locations ensuring that Yale-New Haven Hospital is receiving the level of service as it indicated in the contracts.
  • 7. In coordination with the Vice President and Director of Protective Services & Parking and Transit meet and act as a liaison for Yale-New Haven Hospital with the New Haven Parking Authority and the City of New Haven.
  • 8. In the case of an event where off site valet service or shuttle service is required; act as a liaison between the event coordinator and the vendor manager to ensure that quality and efficient service is provided.
  • 9. On a regular basis working with the vendor management and maintenance teams; visit valet and shuttle locations to be sure that everyone is in compliance with fire codes, Joint Commission and Yale-New Haven Hospital policies; as it relates to staging of vehicles, right of way and signage.
  • 10. When the time arises along with the Director and Yale-New Haven Hospital's purchasing department work on contract provisions to ensure that all of the Hospital's needs are met.
  • 11. Stay current with new trends by attending seminars and subscribing to literature as it pertains to parking and transit demands.
  • 12. Responds and acts on all other duties assigned by the Director of Protective Services and Parking & Transit.
  • 13. Serve as leader on Hospitals sustainability groups to reduce carbon footprint and related sustainability
  • 14. Work with Contract Managers for the Parking and Shuttle services to design and implement training as needed; in an effort to ensure optimal customer service.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree Required, Masters Degree in Public Administration, Urban /Transportation Planning or Business/Health Administration preferred

EXPERIENCE

5-7 years of work experience. Parking management or equivalent professional experience managing a transportation/transit planning or operations agency or equilivant combination of education and experience preferred.

Certified Parking Professional

Ability to manage multi-million dollar budget, vendor contracts and perform variance analysis Strong communication and problem-solving skills
