Job Description
ECU Department of Biology is currently seeking several Greenhouse Assistants.

Undergraduate greenhouse weekend waters will water the assigned Howell Sci Complex greenhouse plants on weekends, when the greenhouse manager is out sick/on vacation/off-campus, and on holidays including academic summer and winter break. They will alternate assigned watering days with other greenhouse assistants in a flexible reservation system with communication ahead of time provided. Monthly hours range between 1 hr to 4 hrs, depending on worker availability and greenhouse productivity.
GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.5
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Biology
Earth & Atmospheric Sciences
Environmental Studies

- Ideal candidates must be reliable and communicate quickly when problems arise. The job does not require many hours in a typical month, but the short period of time when plants are watered is important.

- Communication with the greenhouse manager should be expected during assigned weekends.

- Lab-specific greenhouse training will be provided with position on greenhouse management and safety training.

If you say you will water the plants between 8-11AM and 3-6PM on the weekend, you must water or tell the greenhouse manager ASAP when you realize you cannot, or the plants that grad students and researchers base their research on will become damaged. Poor communication or slacking in duties will result in immediate job loss.
