Job Summary The Security Technician II is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial security systems, including access control, CCTV, IP and analog cameras, and low-voltage infrastructure. This hands-on field role includes cable installation and termination, device programming, equipment rack buildouts, system configuration, and testing while following technical specifications, blueprints, and established safety standards. The technician will work with multiple security platforms, interact professionally with customers and project teams, and ensure systems are fully functional upon installation. This position requires consistent fieldwork throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, with projects primarily concentrated in central Los Angeles. Job Responsibilities
Install commercial security systems, including cameras, access control panels, card readers, electric strikes, maglocks, and related devices.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot access control panels, readers, credentials, door schedules, access levels, strikes, maglocks, and related components.
Install and troubleshoot IP and analog cameras, NVRs, and associated CCTV equipment.
Configure basic CCTV client software on computers and mobile devices, including adding or removing cameras, setting recording schedules, and retrieving footage.
Configure access control interfaces, including adding or removing credentials, establishing door schedules, and assigning access levels.
Perform basic IP networking tasks, including IP addressing, switch and router connectivity, troubleshooting, and port forwarding.
Install and terminate low-voltage security cabling, including 22/4, 20/4, CAT5e, and CAT6.
Terminate CAT5e and CAT6 cabling according to applicable standards.
Dress and route cabling from IT closets to security device locations.
Build out and organize security equipment racks.
Install cable pathways, including J-hooks and D-rings.
Perform cable management, labeling, and dressing to maintain organized installations.
Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, CCTV, access control, and media storage applications as required.
Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and installation documentation.
Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, management, and project stakeholders.
Maintain a clean and safe jobsite and follow applicable PPE, OSHA, and workplace safety requirements.
Verify installed equipment is properly configured, operational, and functioning according to project requirements.
Job Requirements
Minimum 3 years of commercial security system installation experience.
Minimum 3 years of access control installation experience.
Minimum 1 year of experience with IP addressing and network troubleshooting.
Experience installing and working with multiple commercial security and access control systems.
Demonstrated ability to fully install and configure access control panels, card readers, request-to-exit devices, cameras, locking hardware, and related security equipment.
Strong understanding of commercial security equipment functionality and installation practices.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic knowledge of IP networking, switches, routers, and port forwarding.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Security manufacturer or product certifications preferred.
Active OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Scissor lift and/or boom lift certification preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical installation documentation.
Ability to work professionally in customer-facing environments.
Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts and perform work in confined spaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
Ability to stand and work on your feet for the duration of the shift.
Ability to provide and use basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.

Work schedule consists of approximately 40 hours per week.
Overtime may be required based on project needs.
Local travel is required throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, with a concentration of projects in central Los Angeles.
Reliable personal transportation is required for travel to local project sites.
Consistent attendance and the ability to report to assigned project locations are required.
