Patient Access Representative / Scheduler Position Overview We are seeking an experienced *Patient Access Representative* to join a fast-paced healthcare team. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in a high-volume call center environment and have a strong experience in patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and customer service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patients throughout the scheduling and registration process, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information, coordinating with providers, and delivering an outstanding patient experience. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and confidence handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls. Key Responsibilities * Schedule patient appointments via phone and email. * Manage a high volume of inbound and outbound patient calls. * Register patients and verify demographic information accurately. * Obtain and validate insurance information, referrals, authorizations, and required documentation. * Process physician referrals and coordinate urgent scheduling requests. * Educate patients on insurance coverage, financial assistance programs, and billing processes. * Contact patients regarding appointment reminders, missing documentation, and scheduling updates. * Maintain scheduling accuracy and make provider template adjustments as directed. * Respond to patient and payer inquiries related to billing and account information. * Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and team members to resolve scheduling and registration issues. * Utilize electronic medical record systems and scheduling platforms to document patient interactions and update records. Required Qualifications * Experience managing *65-80 calls per day* in a high-volume call center, patient access, scheduling, or healthcare customer service environment. * Minimum of 2 years of patient scheduling, patient registration, or healthcare customer service experience. * Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations. * Strong understanding of medical billing processes and patient financial responsibilities. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency with electronic scheduling systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Epic or other healthcare scheduling systems. * Knowledge of financial assistance programs and healthcare insurance plans. * Experience working in a centralized scheduling or patient access center. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
